Bartlett Cove - Glacier Bay National Park Headquarters.

This is where we were briefed on survival in the wilderness and bear etiquette, got bear proof food canisters, a topographical map of Glacier Bay and a tide chart. All very important, as we were about to find out...
Gustavus is a "lively" place of 300 people, right next to Bartlett Cove.

All around us were scores of Humpback whales. We could see and hear them day and night. We were warned not to cross the path of a whale, since when it comes up for air, it may accidentally flip the small kayak.

Don't let the tranquility fool you. Glacier bay is Bear Country - The great Brown Bears (Grizzlies).
Brown Bear - Illustration photo (luckily we were'nt that close to a real brown bear) Laughing at the face of danger Einat in full gear, waiting for the tide to change, so we can finally get away from this bear infested beach

The Catamaran is taking us up Glacier bay towards the Glaciers themselves. After 3 days of sunshine, this day turned out to be misty and overcast. We think it enhanced the sense of mystery of the place.
