Bartlett Cove - Glacier Bay National Park Headquarters.
This is where we were briefed on survival in the wilderness and bear etiquette, got bear proof food canisters, a topographical map of Glacier Bay and a tide chart. All very important, as we were about to find out... |

In order to finish packing our kayak for the trip, we woke up at 4am. |

| Einat at 6am... | |

A tourist boat carried us and our kayak to the drop off point. |

For the next 4 days we were all alone in the magnificent wilderness of Glacier Bay National Park |

| Paddling is hard work | | |
|
All around us were scores of Humpback whales. We could see and hear them day and night. We were warned not to cross the path of a whale, since when it comes up for air, it may accidentally flip the small kayak. |

Don't let the tranquility fool you. Glacier bay is Bear Country - The great Brown Bears (Grizzlies). |

Last morning with the kayak - paddling to the pick-up point and waiting for the catamaran. |

The Catamaran is taking us up Glacier bay towards the Glaciers themselves. After 3 days of sunshine, this day turned out to be misty and overcast. We think it enhanced the sense of mystery of the place. |
