Parks Highway leads north from Anchorage to Danali National Park (and then on to Fairbanks and beyond). We only travelled the first 250 miles.

The Town of Talkeetna embodies the fantasy of a typical Alaskan town. It has only a few hundreds residents, old buildings and a small town charm. However, the reason we came to Talkeetna was different. Talkeetna is famous for being the staging area for ascents of Mt. McKinley and other high peaks of the Alaska Range. For this reason there are many Air Taxi companies that provide flightseeing tours over the Alaska Range.
This store has many old artifacts including an 800 lbs bear trap (no longer legal for use.)
